If you’re well in need of sunshine, sand, and swims (the crucial three S’s to holiday satisfaction) but you don’t feel like mixing with the usual summer crowds, then Turkey is the place to be. The country has miles upon miles of beaches just waiting to be explored, but won’t be as cramped as some of the well-loved delights in Greece, Italy, or Spain. Kusadasi is an excellent pick.

The beach resort town can be found on Turkey’s western Aegean coast, offering sparkling, clear waters, sandy beaches, a lively seafront promenade, plenty of waterfront hotels and restaurants, and even an island with a walled Byzantine castle connected to the town by a narrow causeway. In short, there are plenty of things to do here.

Kusadasi also boasts a fascinating old quarter and Ottoman marketplace so that you can get acquainted with Turkish culture in between all the moments of relaxation.
