Czech Republic food and drink

Czech cuisine takes influences from various Central European dishes, while also influencing surrounding countries. Many of the Czech Republic’s popular dishes are hearty, consisting of a lot of meat, carbs, and thick soups and sauces.

Knedlíky or dumplings, are a huge part of Czech cuisine, often served with main meals. Goulash is commonly considered a classic Czech dish – usually made with beef and garnished with fresh onions and peppers. Soups are also considered a staple in the Czech Republic, and often accompanied with sourdough bread.

For a taste of traditional Czechia food, call at one of the ubiquitous sausages stands for delicious Klobásy or Párky frankfurters. Many restaurants around the country offer the traditional Czech fare of soups, pork, dumplings, salads (pickled in winter) and delicious Austrian-style puddings.
